The Cabinet has approved a proposal to implement the ‘Mituru Purawara’ urban development programme covering 25 selected towns in Sri Lanka.
Under the 2026 Budget proposals, one key development project will be identified per town and completed within 2026 to improve public convenience and community wellbeing.
In the initial phase, 23 towns will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs. 581 million. Funding will be allocated under the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme.
The proposal was submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development.
