The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested former Southern Province Chief Secretary Rannulu Chandrasiri de Soysa over alleged procurement-related corruption.

The case relates to the purchase of chairs for public voluntary organisations using Rs.16.5mn allocated to Southern Provincial Council members in 2019.

CIABOC alleges that a company was selected outside the prescribed procurement process, causing financial loss to the government. The suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
