The U.S. Embassy in Colombo has imposed a travel restriction on its personnel in Arugam Bay, Eastern Sri Lanka, due to a credible threat of an attack targeting tourist areas.
Accordingly, U.S. citizens have been advised to avoid the area until further notice.
The Embassy has urged individuals to adopt safety measures, including reporting suspicious activities to local authorities via 119, staying vigilant, and trusting their instincts.
It is also recommended to keep communication devices readily available and monitor local news for updates.
Sri Lankan law enforcement has not yet released a statement regarding the threat.
