Upgrading work on 76 rural roads across Sri Lanka commenced today (01) under the “Punaruudayata Maga” programme.

The Department of Government Information stated Rs. 5 billion has been allocated for the first phase by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development.

The project aims to improve rural connectivity, access to services and public transport.

New bus services have also been launched on 40 rural routes from today.
