02 Oct 2026

The Court of Appeal (CA) has dismissed, without taking up for hearing, a writ petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa seeking an order preventing his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The order was issued by a two-member bench comprising President’s Counsel and Court of Appeal President, Justice Rohantha Abeysuriya and Justice K M Sarath Dissanayake, after considering the submissions made regarding the petition.
