Showery conditions are expected to intensify over the Northern, North Central, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces in the coming days from today (17), the Department of Meteorology said.

Showers will occur at times in these provinces and in the Hambantota district.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some places in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Polonnaruwa district.

Showers or thundershowers are also expected at several places elsewhere after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy falls of around 75 mm possible in some areas.

Misty conditions may prevail in parts of the North Central, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.
