Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath said the Government is handling the recent vessel incident involving Iranian personnel in accordance with international law and does not intend to support any side.

Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi, he said Sri Lanka is acting under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and considering humanitarian factors.

He also stressed the need for stronger regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean to ensure maritime security, economic development and environmental protection.
