In the ongoing search following the recent drowning tragedy in Deduru Oya, two additional bodies have been recovered, increasing the death toll to eight. 

According to police reports, four bodies were initially retrieved during search efforts conducted this morning, with the final two bodies recovered later in the day. 

The incident occurred when a group of 15 people was swept away while bathing in Deduru Oya in the Kuratiyagahamula area of Kobeigane on Sunday (16).

The recovered bodies have been taken to the mortuary at Nikaweratiya Hospital. 

Among those rescued yesterday (16), one individual has been discharged from hospital, while the other remains under treatment at Nikaweratiya Hospital.
