Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has stressed that a country’s financial system depends on effective institutions, accountability and strong regulatory enforcement.

She made the remarks at the inaugural meeting of Sri Lanka’s third mutual evaluation on anti-money laundering, countering terrorist financing and countering proliferation financing, conducted by the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering.

The Prime Minister noted that the assessment would help Sri Lanka demonstrate progress in combating financial crime, identify areas for improvement and align with international standards.

She also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s financial crime prevention framework.
