• Injunction order issued against Satyagraha in front of Edu. Min.

National Freedom Front Leader and former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, along with a group of civil society representatives and others, have commenced a continuous Satyagraha protest campaign in front of the Isurupaya’ Education Ministry. The protest demands the withdrawal of the new education reforms and calls for Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya to step down as the Education Minister.

Meanwhile, an injunction order has been issued against the group of civil organisation representatives, including Weerawansa, staging a Satyagraha campaign launched yesterday morning (12), opposite the Ministry. The order was issued by the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. According to the Court order, the protesters have been instructed that the road near the Ministry should not be obstructed and that no sound amplification equipment should be used while the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level Examination is in progress.
