President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has approved a one-year service extension for Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

The extension will come into effect on 1 August, allowing Rodrigo to continue his role as the 25th Commander of the Army, a post he assumed on 31 December, 2024.

Before his appointment, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and also held the position of Commandant at the Defence Services Command and Staff College.
