The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reports that flights to and from the Middle East continue to experience significant delays due to the ongoing conflict and regional tensions.
According to Director General Daminda Rambukwella, only around four flights managed to operate yesterday (16) reflecting the substantial impact on air travel.
He noted that a review of arrivals and departures revealed a sharp decline in flight activity, with only a handful of airlines successfully managing to operate.
Among these were flights by SalamAir, which arrived and departed as scheduled, along with services operated by Etihad Airways and SriLankan Airlines.
Director General Rambukwella explained that most other foreign carriers have cancelled their scheduled flights.
