The Chinese Embassy in Colombo says China and Sri Lanka have intensified joint law enforcement cooperation to combat telecom fraud, online gambling, and related crimes.
The Embassy says coordination has increased between Chinese authorities and Sri Lanka’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Public Security, along with ongoing police-level cooperation.
Sri Lankan authorities have carried out operations to dismantle gambling and fraud networks and arrested suspects, including foreign nationals, according to the statement.
Some cases involving Chinese nationals have been handed over to China for further legal action, the Embassy added.
The Embassy also said both countries will continue strengthening joint efforts to curb cross-border cybercrime and related criminal networks.
