Saajida Razick beat Dinara de Silva to lift the Women’s Open title at the 108th Colombo Championships played at Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts yesterday (24).
Razick beat de Silva in the first set by 6-4 but de Silva came storming back to take the second set by 3-6. However, Razick was unfazed as she took the third by 6-1.
In the Men’s Open, Thehan Wijemanne and Ashen Silva secured their spot in the finals.
Wijemanne beat Luka Kense in straight sets (6-4, 7-6). Silva defeated Apna Perera 2 sets to 1. Interestingly, Silva lost the first set 5-7 but came back to take the last two sets by 6-3, 6-4.
