  • HK-registered shipment arrives

Sri Lanka has sufficient fuel stocks to meet normal consumption requirements well into April and May, Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody told Parliament yesterday (17).

According to the Minister, stocks of 92 Octane petrol are sufficient until 23 April, while 95 Octane petrol is expected to last until 10 May. Auto diesel stocks will remain adequate until 12 April, and super diesel supplies are projected to continue until 10 May.

He emphasised that further shipments have already been planned to maintain uninterrupted distribution across the country.

Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that a fresh fuel shipment has arrived at the Colombo Port, providing an additional buffer as the global energy market remains volatile.

The Ports and Civil Aviation Ministry stated that the vessel, Seafrontier, which is registered in Hong Kong, docked in Colombo carrying multiple fuel consignments. Part of the shipment was offloaded yesterday morning at the Kerawalapitiya fuel storage facility, while another portion was unloaded at the Dolphin Jetty at the Colombo Port later in the day and subsequently transported to the Kolonnawa storage terminal.

According to the Ministry, the shipment included 17,000 metric tonnes of 92-octane petrol, 18,000 metric tonnes of diesel, and 2,800 metric tonnes of super diesel.
