The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has fixed 11 February 2027 to take up the money laundering case against MP Namal Rajapaksa and several others over an alleged Rs. 15 million investment in N.R. Consultancy.

The Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) informed court today (29) that it had completed its investigation and submitted the files to the Attorney General but had not received instructions on further proceedings.

The suspects are accused of investing Rs. 15 million allegedly obtained through unlawful means while Rajapaksa was serving as a Member of Parliament.

The other three suspects, who are out on bail, appeared in court. Rajapaksa, reportedly in remand custody, was not produced.

The Magistrate directed authorities to update the court on the progress in obtaining the Attorney General’s instructions at the next hearing.
