The Kelani River water level is continuously rising and reportedly approaching a major flood situation, authorities have confirmed.

The water gauge at Nagalagam Street was recorded at seven point four feet a short while ago. 

This reading indicates a serious increase in the river's level, posing a renewed threat to low-lying areas.

Residents living near the Kelani River, particularly in the lower catchment areas, are urged to remain extremely vigilant and adhere strictly to the safety and evacuation directives issued by Disaster Management officials.
