A retired former General Manager of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board(NWSDB) was arrested on 12 February by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
CIABOC stated Rs. 12.75 million was paid to rent a vehicle using funds from the Kandy North Pathadumbara Integrated Water Supply Project, despite two state vehicles being available.
The suspect is accused of violating procurement procedures and awarding the contract to a private company without proper acceptance of the vehicle.
The suspect was remanded until 20 February after being produced before court.
