The Supreme Court has begun hearing petitions challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill presented to Parliament.

A five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena is hearing the petitions.

A total of 67 petitions have been filed challenging the Bill. The proceedings have been moved to Courtroom 501 due to limited space in the originally assigned courtroom.
