The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning across several regions in Sri Lanka. 

The affected areas include the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-Western, and North-Central provinces, as well as the districts of Ampara, Mannar, and Vavuniya.

The advisory is in effect until 11:30 p.m. today. The Meteorology Department forecasts thundershowers with severe lightning likely to occur in these regions this afternoon. 

Additionally, there may be temporary localized strong winds during the thunderstorms.
