The Judicial Service Association of Sri Lanka (JSASL) has urged the government to withdraw its proposal to increase the retirement age of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judges.

In a letter to Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara, the Association stated that the move could affect judicial independence and public confidence in the justice system.

The Association warned that extending the retirement age could delay promotions and career progression of judicial officers, creating disruptions within the judiciary.
