‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ is a 1964 children’s novel written by Roald Dahl. The story revolves around Charlie Bucket as he and his grandfather visit Willy Wonka’s outstanding chocolate factory. The story became a classic hit which led to multiple films.
Warner Bros. Pictures has set 15 December 2023, for the theatrical release of ‘Wonka’ in both conventional theatres and in Dolby Cinema and IMAX. The musical fantasy film follows the adventures of a young Willy Wonka, including how he met the Oompa-Loompas.
Willy Wonka, one of the most iconic children’s book characters of all time, has been brought to life on the big screen a few memorable times before. There was Gene Wilder’s famous performance in 1971’s ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,’ and Johnny Depp’s contentious adaptation from 2005. In ‘Wonka,’ a brand-new adaptation described as a prequel to ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ Timothée Chalamet plays the role of Wonka. Paul King – the director of ‘Paddington’ – is directing ‘Wonka’ and he knows how to enchant an audience by carrying them away into a realm of sugary bliss where everything is possible.
Sally Hawkins will play the role of Wonka’s mother. The cast also includes the famous ‘Mr. Bean’ Rowan Atkinson, Keegan Michael-Key, Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, Calah Lane, Natasha Rothwell, and more.
What’s the plot of ‘Wonka’?
Be it a child or a grown-up, ‘Wonka’ is going to be a sweet treat for all movie lovers.
As depicted by the trailer, it is the story of how Willy Wonka became the renowned candyman. The movie depicts the tale of a young Willy Wonka who travels to a stuffy European centre of chocolate where he finds all these very upscale chocolate stores selling sweets at inflated prices.
A cast of varied individuals, including bankers and other chocolate entrepreneurs, raises the possibility of antagonists with some continuity of the Willy Wonka universe.
Of course, a hero is nothing without a loyal friend. Calah Lane first appears as a bold young woman who accompanies Timothée Chalamet on his search for the world’s best candies. Sally Hawkins’ character as Willy Wonka’s mother has never been seen in prior Willy films. One of the many questions a multi-part franchise would address is the history of the chocolatier.
Hugh Grant, a well-known actor, is the new Oompa-Loompa in the upcoming movie ‘Wonka’. ‘Wonka’ started production in October 2021 and was filmed in England.
