The Department of Meteorology stated that the depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal, northeast of Sri Lanka, has intensified into a deep depression.

Although the system is not expected to directly affect Sri Lanka, rainy conditions are likely to continue in the southwestern parts of the island.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm is possible in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Western provinces, and Galle and Matara districts.

Strong winds of around 40–50 kmph may occur in several areas, while the public has been advised to take precautions against localised strong winds and lightning.
