Relatives of persons missing from Sri Lanka’s war staged a protest in Kilinochchi today (04), marking Independence Day with black flags and armbands.
Participants stated they still have no information about their loved ones, 17 years after the war ended.
The march began near Kandaswamy Kovil and moved through Kilinochchi town, with demonstrators displaying banners describing the day as “black freedom.”
Representatives of Tamil political parties, families of the missing, and civil society groups also joined the protest.
