Opposition leader meets UK Deputy Prime Minister

Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa met with UK Deputy Prime Minister (PM) David Lammy in Colombo, discussing strengthened bilateral ties, trade growth, governance reforms, and wildlife conservation. 


The talks highlighted Sri Lanka’s expanding trade with the UK, new trade schemes, and concerns over proposed security laws. 


Premadasa praised UK’s humanitarian support after Cyclone Ditwah and emphasized the importance of sustainable conservation efforts for elephants. 


The leaders also exchanged views on promoting transparency, human rights, and regional cooperation, reinforcing the enduring partnership between the two nations.
