Police have launched a special islandwide security program to ensure public safety during the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year season.

Police Spokesperson F.U. Wootler stated that the plan covers all police stations, with intelligence-backed operations in place to protect those visiting urban centres for festive shopping and activities.

The public has also been urged to remain vigilant and safeguard their cash and personal belongings in crowded areas.
