The Government Analyst’s Department has received modern forensic equipment to strengthen DNA testing and speed up the analysis of biological evidence.

The equipment, provided with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), includes an RT-PCR machine, PCR system and Crime Lite serology kits.

Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara stated that steps are being taken to issue forensic reports on drug cases within three months and fill staff vacancies at the department.
