President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the Government will take steps to remove Value Added Tax (VAT) on school books.

Speaking at a rally in Nochchiyagama, he stated that plans were already being prepared, with further details expected in the upcoming Budget.

The President also announced plans to recruit around 121,000 people into the state sector, including approximately 23,000 teachers.

He further called for changes to Sri Lanka’s political culture and rejected claims that the Government was holding rallies due to concerns over its political stability.
