Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Karannagoda case set for 13 October

17 Sep 2026 | By Staff Writer

The Colombo High Court has fixed 13 October for a pre-trial conference in the corruption case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksa and former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda.

Both accused, who are on bail, appeared before the court today (17). The court ordered that requested documents held by the court or the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) be provided to the defence, subject to applicable fees where required.

CIABOC alleges that Yoshitha Rajapaksa was recruited as a Navy Cadet Officer in 2006 without the required qualifications and sent for training in the UK using public funds outside established procedures. The allegations have not been determined by the court.
