Special security and traffic plan in Colombo for May Day rallies - Police

In observance of International Workers’ Day tomorrow (1), numerous rallies, processions, meetings, and celebrations have been organized throughout various parts of Sri Lanka.


In response, the police have put in place special security measures and a traffic management plan specifically for Colombo to ensure the safety and orderliness of these events.


The Police Media Division noted that the main rallies, parades, and celebrations will take place in Colombo, with several institutions and organizations also hosting commemorative events in other regions of the country.


All police stations have been instructed to maintain a peaceful environment during these May Day activities, while also overseeing security, traffic control, road safety, and the smooth flow of vehicular movement. 


The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed Senior Deputy Inspectors General in charge of provinces to take necessary measures for rallies and meetings outside Colombo.
