The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Chinese government have launched a US$2 million project to strengthen sustainable aquaculture in Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
The three-year project, scheduled to begin in 2027, will focus on improving aquatic animal health through digital aquaculture management, early warning systems, biosecurity measures, and knowledge-sharing.
The initiative is being implemented under the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Programme in collaboration with Sri Lankan fisheries and research institutions.
