U.K.S.P. Wijesinghe, a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Survey Department who served as the Surveyor General, retired from public service on January 22, 2025, upon reaching the age of 60.

Following his retirement, Y.G. Gnanathilaka, also a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Survey Department, has been appointed as the new Surveyor General with immediate effect.

This appointment was approved by the Cabinet based on a proposal submitted by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation.
