International Anti-Corruption Forum kicks off in Korea

The International Anti-Corruption Forum, a two day event co-host by the Korean Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and the UNDP, marking a decade of partnership in countering corruption, commenced today (02) in Seoul, South Korea, under the theme of ‘Future of Integrity’. 


The ACRC has actively provided technical assistance for capacity building in Anti-Corruption in line with the United Nations Convention against Corruption, and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals for over an decade. 


Sri Lanka, one of the 14 partner nations to benefit from Korean experiences in improving integrity and combating corruption, was represented by Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). UNPD officials from the UN mission in Colombo was also present during the launch of the Forum. 


Addressing the gathering, Kim Young-ran, former Chairperson of ACRC and former Supreme Court justice said: “Integrity is not a reward of development. It is the foundation of sustainable development” 


Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) said that he is glad that the Korean experiences in developing Anti-Corruption structures and systems are helping countries like Sri Lanka improve their systems.
