A Senior Assistant Secretary attached to the Presidential Secretariat has been remanded until 30 June over an investigation into the alleged preparation of a forged passport for organised crime suspect ‘Karandeniye Raju’.

The 41-year-old suspect was produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court after being arrested by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB).

Police allege the forged passport was prepared in 2023 under another person's name to facilitate overseas travel. Investigations are continuing.
