The General Manager of Lanka Salt Limited, R.M. Gunarathna, has been granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court after being arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

He was taken into custody over allegations that he caused a loss of approximately Rs. 14.3 million to the government by procuring "Laklunu" packaging through a re-order process without following proper procurement procedures.

CIABOC alleges the procurement gave an undue advantage to a supplier company and resulted in financial losses to the state.
