Sri Lanka Police have set up a Special Disaster Operations Room at Police Headquarters to coordinate rescue missions, evacuations, and public safety efforts.

Police units islandwide are on high alert, equipped with boats and emergency gear, and working closely with the Disaster Management Centre and armed forces.

A special program is also in place to safeguard the homes and property of displaced families.

The public is urged to avoid flooded roads, landslide-prone areas, and unnecessary visits to disaster zones, and to follow evacuation instructions.
