As sustainable revival of iconic tradition: Josephian Cycle Parade unveiled

22 Apr 2026

The Josephian Cycle Parade 2026 was announced at a press conference held on 17 April at Embrax Colombo, marking the return of the event in a revised format.

In response to ongoing fuel challenges, organisers have transitioned the traditional vehicle parade into a cycle-based event, incorporating an environmentally focused approach while maintaining its established legacy.

Organised by the St. Joseph’s College Colombo – Josephian Vehicle Parade Committee, the event is expected to bring together past pupils, supporters and members of the wider community.

Over the years, the Josephian Vehicle Parade has served as a platform to strengthen connections among Josephians while supporting charitable initiatives.

The 2026 edition will feature a cycle parade aimed at encouraging participation and community engagement, alongside fundraising and awareness activities.

Organisers also announced CK Orbits as the main sponsor. The organising committee noted that partner organisations are aligned in supporting community-focused initiatives.

Proceeds from the event will contribute to the “Break the Silence” initiative, including a Smart Board Donation Project for the School for the Deaf and Blind Ratmalana. The project aims to support learning through the introduction of educational technology.

The organising committee stated that the event is intended to promote sustainability, community engagement and social responsibility, and acknowledged the support of sponsors and partners in facilitating the initiative.
