A herd of more than 60 wild elephants has recently raided cultivated land and home gardens in the Paniyankadawala area of Anuradhapura, causing significant damage to crops and livestock. 


The residents expressed their concern over the extensive destruction to their chena cultivation and home garden produce, which has heightened their anxiety about potential threats to their safety.


Villagers noted that this is the first time such a large herd of wild elephants has ventured into their villages, leading to a sense of fear and uncertainty among the community.
