The Sri Lanka Navy has appointed a special board of inquiry to investigate an accident involving a Navy fast attack craft off Angulana.

Eleven Navy personnel were rescued following the incident on 15 August and are receiving treatment in stable condition.

Search operations continue for a Navy officer who remains missing, while divers have begun a salvage operation to recover the damaged craft.

Rough sea conditions are affecting both operations, according to the Navy.
