The Sarvajana Balaya has suspended the membership of councillor Chandana Premanath Mudunkotuwa for acting against the party’s position during the vote to elect the Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.

In a letter signed by General Secretary Ranjan Seneviratne, the party stated that Mudunkotuwa had violated explicit instructions by supporting the candidate nominated by the National People’s Power (NPP) in today’s (18) vote.

The party described the move as a serious disciplinary breach.

According to the statement, the suspension will remain in force pending the outcome of a formal disciplinary inquiry, after which a final decision will be made.
