A decision has been taken to launch a continuous island-wide trade union (TU) action starting 23 January, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced.
The GMOA noted that the decision was taken during its Executive Committee meeting held yesterday (19).
The GMOA noted that the Government, through this year's (2026) Budget proposals, have failed to provide solutions to the real problems faced by doctors and the broader health sector, causing considerable dissatisfaction within the medical community.
The GMOA added that following discussions with the President and the Health Minister, it had temporarily suspended the proposed TU action. However, the GMOA warned that due to the lack of further consultations and the Government’s failure to fulfill agreements, it has decided to move towards union action.
