New modules on social cohesion, law and ethics will be introduced for Grade 12 and 13 students under education reforms scheduled to begin in 2027.
The reforms also propose introducing seven subjects, including History and Aesthetic Studies, for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination, while vocational education will be introduced for Grades 10 and 11.
The proposals were discussed at a meeting of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Education Reforms chaired by Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
Activity books, teacher guides and modules for Grades 2 and 6 have already been prepared, with teacher training underway.
