Isipathana College Under-16 hockey team led by Mandiv Ranasinghe, displayed their best talents throughout the tournament.

The final against Vidyartha College, Kandy had to be called off due to bad weather, where both teams were declared joint champions.

The tournament was organised and conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Federation, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and was played at the Uyanawatte Stadium, Matara recently. 

Isipathana College competed in the schools ‘A’ division with 32 teams vying for the Championship, and the teams were divided into 8 groups and were placed in group ‘D’ along with St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia, St. Aloysius College, Galle and Hindu College, Matale. 

In their league matches played the Isipathana team beat St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia by 1 goal to nil, beat St. Aloysius College, Galle by 3 goals to nil, and beat Hindu College, Matale by 1 goal to nil to emerge champions in their group. 

Qualifying to the pre-quarterfinal, they beat Maris Stella College, Negombo on penalty strokes (4/3), after the match ended in a 1 all draw. 

Qualifying to the quarterfinal, Isipathana beat President's College, Maharagama by 1 goal to nil and qualifying to the semifinal, they beat Zahira College, Matale on penalty strokes (5/4), after the match ended in a 1 all draw. 

Qualifying to the final, the match had to be called off due to bad weather. A.M.M.Saad was the star of the tournament scoring nine goals whilst G. Methupa Vishwajith Perera was adjudged as the best goalkeeper. 

In the History of Isipathana College Hockey, it was in 1992 that they emerged as champions in the All Island Schools tournament, beating St. Benedict's College, Colombo (Kotahena) by 1 goal to nil and this victory comes after 33 years.
