Members of Parliament and officials in Sri Lanka took part in a technical assistance session at the Sri Lanka Parliament led by the U.S. House Democracy Partnership (HDP) and the U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

The programme is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka to strengthen parliamentary capacity in analysing budgets, economic policy, and legislation.

Around 100 MPs and parliamentary staff participated in working sessions focused on public finance oversight and the proposed Parliamentary Budget Office.

The U.S. delegation shared tools and practices used in Congress to support independent and non-partisan budget analysis.
