The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Rainfall of up to 75 mm is likely in some areas.

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected in parts of the Central, Northern and North Central regions, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning.
