Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga has urged those offering financial support to him to extend the assistance to other athletes facing difficulties in purchasing essential equipment.

Tharanga noted that he will receive replacement javelins from the company responsible for damaging his equipment, and stated that he has not accepted any money from the public.

He stated that offers of financial assistance received by him would have been enough to purchase around 100 javelins, but urged supporters to help other athletes instead.

Tharanga noted that many talented athletes from financially disadvantaged families struggle to continue their sporting careers due to the cost of equipment.
