The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended landslide early warnings due to ongoing heavy rainfall across Sri Lanka.

Wasantha Senadheera said Level 2 ‘Amber’ alerts remain in effect for 26 Divisional Secretariat divisions across six districts, including Kandy, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Colombo, Galle and Kurunegala.

Level 1 ‘Yellow’ warnings have also been issued for 41 Divisional Secretariat divisions in 13 districts.

NBRO warned of possible reactivation of landslides in previously identified vulnerable areas.

Residents in affected regions have been urged to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions.
