Prof. Kapila Perera has resigned as Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, according to sources.

Reports indicate that he has informed Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government of his decision.

The resignation comes following a recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka involving a senior ministry official.

Sources say Prof. Perera is expected to return to university service after leaving the public sector.
