Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today (19), with rainfall exceeding 75 mm possible in some areas, the Department of Meteorology stated.

The affected areas include the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, as well as the Kurunegala, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee and Mullaitivu districts.

Morning showers are also possible in coastal areas of the Western and Northern provinces and the Galle District.

The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. Misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early morning.
