Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa chaired a special discussion on strengthening and expanding drug quality testing mechanisms, the Ministry of Health stated.
The meeting focused on conducting drug quality testing in a more systematic manner to improve overall quality assurance.
It was attended by the Director General of Health Services, the chair of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, and officials from the Health and Science and Technology ministries.
The Minister said reliance on the authority’s laboratory had limitations and called for testing to be expanded through other government institutions, with priority given to problematic drugs to avoid supply disruptions.
